Prácticamente acosamos a los Yeah Yeah Yeahs en su visita a Monterrey para que nos dieran una entrevista, en el aeropuerto y a las prisas, pero Nick Zinner nos contestó lo siguiente.

In It’s a Blitz there’s new sound of the band, but you´re the same band, it was a natural evolution? You were looking for a new sound? Why the change?

We are changing, thats for sure, and it can be perceived in the way we are and sound. Its a Blitz shows that other side that Yeah is living right now with all the things that happened to the band in the last 5 years. Sometimes we look back and say, “Really? How?” you know, but its so damn cool that we cant complain about it.

How does it work the songs live?

You tell me! Feels good playing this new album at gigs and people is really getting it. Sometimes friends tell us to get some more of the old YYY but the truth is that theres no new YYY we are exactly like we used to be, maybe better hahahaha… who knows.

It has affected the way you perform your old songs?

No

We are a magazine on line, and your disc was leaked before the official Release, what’s your position of the music online?

Online music is great, thats how the new music business in today and will be tomorrow. The music will end up being free and the bands will be playing everywhere in a few more years, for now we should keep on working for that day to come.

You spent a lot of time in the studio for the album, how do you feel the industry music in these moments? Is it weaker? Stronger?

Like I told ya, is changing.

YYY s it´s considered one of the best bands of the decade, whats your opinion about it, its been a long trip from the scene in New York…

The situation in NYC and many other big cities is complicated but theres not much to do than keep on playing and work hard. Is good to see that all our effort is paying us back. I wont say that YYY is big, but we have work hard to be who we are in music scene.

Karen, how does it come the lyrics?

Karen is not here but the truth is that nobody knows exactly whats happening inside her head and you wont wanna know ha!!!

“Maps” it’s a beautiful song, a favorite fan´s, it has changed the way you feel it?

Its one of our best songs and we really enjoy playing it, about how we feel it, Mhhhh fine, its a great song.

We love your work in Where the wild the things are any comments on this? You´ll keep doing music for movies?

Sure, we are working in a couple soundtracks but for now we cant talk to much about it. Playing for movies is awesome, it really opens the possibility to get into new crowds, we enjoy that.

We are working on love movies for this issue, any favorite?

Closer, without thinking it twice.
